“Prof. DR. Ion Chiricuta” Cluj-Napoca days
June, 20 – 22, 2019
IOCN auditorium, 34-36 Republicii Street, RO-400015 Cluj-Napoca
Dear colleagues and friends
It is the 90th anniversary since Prof. Iuliu Moldovan founded the “Institute for the Study and Prophylaxis of Cancer” in Cluj-Napoca, one of the first specialized centers in Europe at that time.
Over time, the Institute has undergone several stages of development under the guidance of visionary personalities, focusing its work on three key elements:
• treatment of the oncological patient
• cancer research activity
• training of oncologists
Today – 90 years after it opened its doors for the first time, the Oncological Institute “Prof. Dr. Ion Chiricuţă” Cluj-Napoca, a name it carries in honor of the one to whom relates its development in the “modern age”, is redefining at national level the standard regarding the quality of the medical act, the multidisciplinary treatment of the oncological patient, the research activity, as well as the training of the next generations of physicians.
As a result of meeting high quality standards, following a rigorous evaluation, the Oncological Institute “Prof. Dr. Ion Chiricuţă” Cluj-Napoca received the title of the European Cancer Center in November 2017 from the European Organization of Cancer Institutes (OECI), consolidating its position among similar institutes on our continent.
Its high-performance was highlighted once again when the Institute was awarded the highest honor, the Order “Sanitary Merit” in the rank of “Grand Officer” by the President of Romania, Klaus-Werner Iohannis.
On this anniversary occasion, we invite you 20th – 22nd of June 2019 at our celebration, a meeting to represent a platform for the exchange of experience and opinions on important topics in cancer management, in line with the rapid pace of information accumulation, technology development, and the emergence of new molecules. Our celebration aims to praise those who have contributed over time to the development and building of the reputation of this Institute, as well as to establish opportunities for new collaborations
The invitation to participate in this event is addressed to all specialists, as well as future specialists, oncologists, surgeons, radiotherapists, biochemists, nurses and researchers in the field of fundamental sciences both in Romania and abroad.
We are looking forward to having you alongside us!
Prof. Patriciu Achimaș Cadariu, MD, PhD
